Spokane Airport Curbside Closure Affects Holiday Travelers
Drivers and pedestrians cannot use a large portion of the main terminal curbside.

Holiday travel through Spokane International Airport now comes with a smaller curb area outside the main terminal. Part of the curb is blocked for vehicles and foot traffic during a multi-year expansion, leaving less room for passenger pickups and drop-offs. Sean Scanlan, the airport’s traffic director, recommends reaching the airport two hours before a holiday departure.
People leaving a vehicle in airport parking need to cross a sky bridge to enter the terminal. Posted directions show the revised parking setup, while traffic directors are guiding motorists near the reduced curb. The change can also delay arriving passengers and those meeting them. Trigger Weddle said her friend had already left the plane and retrieved her luggage before Weddle found somewhere to park.
The current work includes additional parking, a new baggage claim space in Concourse C and more stores. Those improvements have a May 2027 completion target. A broader expansion will enlarge the main terminal and combine security screening at one central TSA checkpoint. Airport CEO Dave Harring said that arrangement will give passengers one screening location instead of requiring them to determine whether to use the checkpoint for Concourse C or A/B. The entire construction project is expected to finish in 2030.
