The program divides an hour into two parts for preschool children. The opening 30 minutes feature picture books, singing and fingerplays. Another 30 minutes follow, with play-based activities covering early math, science, art and literacy concepts.

Parents and caregivers can participate in the play with their children. The session develops literacy, social abilities and STEAM skills—science, technology, engineering, art and math—that support preparation for kindergarten. Families may also continue exploring these areas at home. Children can get a library card as well.

Additional sessions are listed for Friday, November 20, 2026; Friday, December 4, 2026; Friday, December 11, 2026; and Friday, December 18, 2026. Because library capacity is limited, parties numbering 10 or more should contact the library before attending.

Spokane County Library District welcomes attendees of all abilities. For hearing assistance, ASL requests or other accommodations at an in-person library event, email comments@scld.org or call 509.893.8200. Requests should be submitted no fewer than five business days beforehand.
