Older adults worried about falling can join Spokane County Library District’s eight-part “A Matter of Balance: Preventing Falls” series at Moran Prairie. The first meeting is Monday, November 9, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. in the library’s meeting room. Registration is required by phone at 509.777.1571.

The small-group sessions combine conversation, brainstorming, problem-solving and light movement. Participants will work on practical activity goals, ways to improve flexibility, strength and balance, and changes at home that may lower fall risks. The program also explores how changing one’s perspective can make falls feel more manageable, and every participant receives a workbook.

Later meetings listed are November 16, November 18 and November 23, 2026. The local sponsor is Aging & Long Term Care of Eastern Washington, which also provides Medicare education and support related to dementia, memory loss and fall prevention. Spokane County Library District says its events are intended to welcome people with all abilities; accommodation requests should be made at least five business days ahead of an in-person event.
