Dementia Risk Discussion Set for Deer Park Library
The November 16 session will cover health equity, social factors and Medicare education.

Spokane County Library District will hold a dementia-risk session at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 16, 2026, in the Deer Park Meeting Room. The program will connect memory health with health equity, living conditions and other factors that may influence dementia and related memory changes.
The discussion will explain how social conditions across a person’s life—including where people are born, grow up, live, work and age—can affect health. That gives local families, older adults and caregivers a way to consider dementia risk alongside broader well-being.
SHIBA and Aging & Long Term Care of Eastern Washington are community partners. SHIBA’s trained volunteers provide free, unbiased and confidential Medicare counseling. ALTCEW sponsors SHIBA locally and offers Medicare education, along with information and support concerning dementia, memory loss and fall prevention.
The library says its in-person events are intended to welcome people of all abilities. Requests for hearing assistance, ASL interpretation or other ADA accommodations should be sent to comments@scld.org or 509.893.8200 at least five business days before the event. Zoom programs include live transcription, and recorded sessions have automatic captions.
