Critical Infrastructure opens at 4:00 PM on Friday, October 23, 2026, at Terrain Gallery in Spokane. The opening takes place alongside First Friday. Carrie Scozzaro, an artist, arts educator and journalist, organized the exhibition around people whose daily work supports artists and brings other people’s art before the public.

The participants include directors of museums and galleries, arts nonprofit founders, teachers and advocates. Their roles connect them with organizations including Spokane Public Libraries, Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture, Jordan Schnitzer Museum WSU, Spokane International Academy, Art Salvage, Emerge, Kolva-Sullivan Gallery, Front Room Gallery and Marmot Art Space. The show gives these arts leaders an opportunity to present newly created work of their own.

Visitors can expect painting, photography, printmaking, clay pieces, mixed-media sculpture and additional forms. The shared idea is that the participants are surrounded by art and artists in their everyday careers, although creating art is not how they earn their living. For Spokane residents, the exhibition offers a closer look at both their creative work and the people helping sustain the regional arts community. Admission is free. The show continues through October 31st, with public hours from 4pm to 7pm each Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 628 N Monroe St, Spokane, WA 99201.
